Editorial Policy
Last updated: July 2026
Purpose
This policy explains how we prepare and maintain the practical guidance published by Free Walking Tours Hanoi. Our aim is to help visitors make informed decisions about walking Hanoi, not to make the city sound simpler or more predictable than it is.
How we research
Our guides and editors draw on regular walks, tour operations, direct observation, and reliable primary or official sources where those are available. We distinguish between stable historical context and details that can change, such as opening arrangements, access, prices, or pedestrian restrictions.
Verification and updates
Current-condition claims are checked against the most recent practical information available to us. We update pages when a material change is confirmed. A date on a page reflects a substantive edit or verification; it is not changed merely to make a page appear newer.
Authors and experience
Where a guide is named as an author, the byline links to that guide’s profile. Guides write from their own experience of routes, neighbourhoods, and questions raised on walks. A named author does not replace fact checking; it identifies the person responsible for the perspective.
Corrections
If you spot an error or a change we should verify, contact us at realfreewalkingtourshanoi@gmail.com. We review corrections against available evidence and amend material errors promptly.
Independence and disclosures
Editorial recommendations are based on usefulness for walkers. When a page links to one of our tours, that relationship is clear from the link and the surrounding context. We do not present promotional material as independent reporting.
